(GUELPH CHAPTER) Kick-starting Your Career: Discussing Opportunities with Local Businesses

Did you know there are plenty of opportunities to find an entry level job in industry in Guelph? Join us at The Fifth June 18th to see representatives from three exciting local companies talk about what they do and the skills they look for in candidates. A panel discussion will follow with questions from both our team and the audience, and there will be an opportunity to say hi and get to know the representatives after the talk. This is a great chance to see example opportunities of what you can do after grad school!

Our panelists include:

Darryl Vaz (President, MEDUCOM Health Inc.) - Healthcare Communications

Darryl has over 15 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Healthcare Communications. He has been a part of MEDUCOM for over 9 years, where he is now the company president. His past industry experiences have allowed him to progress through roles in Medical, Business Development and Executive Management. Darryl obtained his MSc in Medical Science and MBA from McMaster University.

Steven Larmer (Genomics Program Manager, Semex) - Industrial Immunology and Genetics

Steven is currently a Genomics Program Manager at Semex, where he has been a part of the team for over 3 years. His role is instrumental in the development of new genetic tools. Steven is passionate about the advancement of science and technology within dairy cattle breeding and genomics. Steven obtained his PhD at the University of Guelph

Jondavid de Jong (Manager of R&D , Glysantis Inc. ) - Biotechnology

Jondavid (Jd) obtained his PhD in molecular virology from the University of Guelph. He then pursued post-doctoral studies focusing on gene therapy for correction of Cystic Fibrosis at Glysantis. He is currently the Manager of Research and Development at the company, where he focuses on bringing novel therapeutic applications to the unique nanopartical market.
