About the Event
Join the S2BN for an evening featuring the trajectory and work of industry experts. During this panel discussion we will discuss the different sectors of industry, the diverse experiences of the panelists and their trajectory to industry. The panelists will discuss their experience for approximately 10 minutes each and this session will be followed by a facilitated Q&A from the audience before the networking portion of the evening. Dinner will be provided!
The session panelist will be:
1. Harleen Shahi, Regulatory Affairs at Celgene
Harleen: A Pharm D Graduate from the University of Waterloo, 2015. Working at Celgene as an Associate Manager in Regulatory Affairs for 2 and a half years as well as a practicing pharmacist. I have a passion for bringing safe and effective cancer medications to patients.
2. Vitor Gitman, Drug Safety at Roche
Victor Gitman is a Drug Safety Specialist at Roche, where he is involved with various pharmacovigilance activities to ensure compliance and safety with regards to the use of Roche products. Some of these tasks include medical assessment of cases (seriousness, validity, and causality), review of local clinical studies, and forecasting/analytical review with respect to adverse events.
He graduated from the University of Waterloo Pharmacy Class of 2015 and is currently pursuing a Masters in Epidemiology.
Victor enjoys Boxing and has recently developed a curiosity to learn more about leveraging Big Data using Machine Learning.
3. Carla Maxemous, MSL at GSK
Carla Maxemous is a licensed pharmacist in Ontario with clinical experience in both hospital and retail pharmacy. After completing her Pharm.D at Albany College of Pharmacy in New York, Carla went on to complete an Industrial Residency through the University of Toronto, Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. This led her to work in Market Access at Biogen Canada where she supported Clinical and Economic discussions to secure access for Biologic therapies in Multiple Sclerosis. She has also worked in Oncology and Gastroenterology at Takeda, providing scientific information to patients and health care professionals. Carla is passionate about education and preventative medicine as well as advocating for patient access to innovative therapies. Carla started with GlaxoSmithKline in April 2018 as Medical Science Liaison for Vaccines in Ontario and Atlantic Canada. In her role at GSK, Carla’s focus is to provide fair and balanced scientific information to clinicians and other decision makers to ensure safe and effective use of GSK therapies.
