Cynthia Kwan

PhD Candidate

Cynthia is a Ph.D. candidate in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University. Her research focuses on developing a new marmoset model of Parkinson’s disease to test disease-modifying therapies. Cynthia joined S2BN when she noticed that students lacked resources and confidence in navigating careers outside of academia. Through S2BN, she hopes to support students in their transition post-graduation, as well as highlight opportunities in Quebec's Life Sciences and Health Tech sectors.

Website Coordinator

Aashita Batra

PhD Candidate

Aashita is a Ph.D. candidate in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Patricia Pelufo Silveira. Her current research explores the modulation of the dopaminergic mesocorticolimbic pathway by insulin in models of fetal adversity. This work integrates rodent models with translational bioinformatics approaches to explore the mechanisms underlying multiple executive functions. Through S2BN, she wants to provide sources and opportunities for students in academia who would like to pursue careers in industry.

Caitlin Fierheller

Events Coordinator

PhD Candidate

Caitlin is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Human Genetics at McGill University studying hereditary ovarian and breast cancer genetics using next generation sequencing and bioinformatic analyses. She is interested in providing students with the opportunity to learn more about careers outside of an academic setting. Caitlin is hoping that through S2BN events she can inspire students in their career search.

Rahul Thareja

Marketing Coordinator

MEng Student

Rahul is an M.Eng. student in the department of Biological and Biomedical Engineering at McGill University. He is investigating the effects of the gut-brain axis and its implications in Alzheimer’s disease through a computer-controlled dynamic gastrointestinal model. Rahul is interested in drug/device commercialization and entrepreneurship, especially when it stems from academia. He wants to share his knowledge and information with other students in Montreal.
